Printmaking Pilgrimage 2025

Hello, dear readers! Here's a post chock-full of newsy bits just for you.

Indivisible Fundraising Report

Thanks to everyone who has bought the "My Little Chickadee" print!

We've raised $225 so far. There are still some available, and this fight against the MAGA takeover is far from over, so please share this fundraiser with your friends and family. When you do, let them know that my shop will be closed May 30 - July 7.

Temporary Shop Closure

If there's anything you need in the next month or so, be sure to get your order in before 9AM on Friday, May 30 (GMT-7). At that point, my shop is going offline for almost 6 weeks. Visitors will see that a password is necessary to access my site because that's the easiest way to pause my store, and it's only while I'm gone. Where am I going, you ask?

Dream Trip

Last October (when I thought there could be a Pres. Harris right now - such hopeful, innocent times) I saw that Laura Boswell, printmaker extraordinaire, was opening up enrollment for her 2025 printmaking classes.

My first thought: OMG, I have to get into one of her classes.

Second thought: But she's in Scotland.

Third thought: Time to dust off the passport, baby!

To cut this already-too-long-story short, I managed to grab one of the coveted seats in her "Focus on Reduction" class. Suddenly I was going to Scotland. However, when one goes to the island with the greatest concentration of talented printmakers in the world, one does not sign up for just one printmaking course. No, no, no. What one does is obsessively scour the website of every possible printmaking venue somewhat nearby until one discovers that Angie Lewin, an amazing wood engraver, is offering a beginner's course in Edinburgh two weeks later.

Me thinking again: Hmm... what to do with those two weeks in between. If only Jenny McCabe, yet another fantastic printmaker, would offer a collagraphy course during that time.

And BAM!, there it was online. As I signed up for my third dream printmaking class, I knew without any doubt that I'd used up all the good luck I'd ever been granted and should never expect anything fortuitous to happen in my life again. (Fact: Ever since that fateful day my husband has been mercilessly beating me at our favorite happy hour dice game. Coincidence? Of course, but where's the story in that?!)

Trippy Updates

As you can probably tell from the chirpy post, I'm riding some pre-trip endorphins. With all the terrible things happening to so many people these days and the dismantling of the American democracy, it feels surreal to be talking about a fun trip and how much joy thinking about it brings me. I know how fortunate I am to be able to travel overseas and study with masters, so I'm going to make the most of it. I'll report back here in August, and I'll probably post some trip updates on Bluesky.  I wish you well!
